Soon after that little episode, my working life was blighted by routinely having to listen to completely benign pre-recs before they went out on 6 Music. Even ones without pres, FFS.
Lord, I remember their odd friendship. Rusty Rockets told me he coaxed Wossy onto Twitter, so I suppose I’m partly responsible for that. A true public service. I rewatched the Fawlty Towers duck episode last week, prompted by a Nepalese restaurant in Barcelona proudly serving a dish inspired by it, and realised how bizarre it is that when I first watched Manuel, I had no idea how weird things would later get.

So far... been offered a riad in Morocco, a remote casita in Playa Escondida in Tal de Abaixo, a yurt near San Sebastián (never understood why people like yurts), an apt in Sin Street in Sitges (lord, imagine), a place in Calanques National Park outside Marseille and a Fauvist's pad in Collioure. Talk about analysis paralysis.

Speaking of Ross, I went to the taping of friends as a VIP because my friend was Lisa Kudrow’s assistant and ended up sitting next to the evil blonde from Neighbours. The whole time David Schwimmer kept pointing at me and waving, even blowing kisses. Couldn’t believe my luck only to find out that on the other side of the blonde was Natalie Imbruglia who was dating him at the time 😞.
